Ingredients for Kerala Style Kadala Curry Recipe













Kadala - 1 cup
Shallots(Kunjulli) - 5 - 6 nos
(cut into small pieces)
Onion - 1 no
(chopped)
Garlic pods - 3 - 4 nos
(cut into small and crushed)
Red chillies - 2 nos
(cut into 3 pieces)
Mustard seeds - 1/ 2 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Chilly powder - 3/4 tsp
Coriander powder - 11/2 tsp
Garam masala - 1/4 tsp (optional)
Cloves(Grambu) - 2 nos
Fennel seeds(Perinjeerakam) - 1/4 tsp
Oil - 2 tsp
Salt - As reqd
Water - As reqd




Preparation Method of Kerala Style Kadala Curry Recipe

1)Soak kadala overnight and pressure cook with salt, till done.

2)Mix together the coriander and chilly powder with little water to a paste and keep aside for 7 - 10 mins.

3)Heat oil in a pan.

4)Splutter mustard seeds.

5)Add red chillies, shallots and curry leaves and saute for 2 mins.

6)Add onion and saute till light brown.

7)Add the crushed garlic, crushed clove-perinjeerakam and chilly-coriander paste and saute for 3 - 4 mins.

8)Add 2 tsp of water and wait for oil to separate.

9)Add the cooked kadala along with water.

10)Cook on low flame for 10 mins.

:- Serve hot with puttu.
